Arsenal fear Morgan Schneiderlin will join Manchester United – report

Premier League rivals Arsenal fear that transfer target Morgan Schneiderlin will favour a move to Manchester United this summer, according to The Telegraph.

Southampton’s defensive midfielder, who scored four goals last season, has been the subject of a big Premier League switch after he announced his intentions to play in the Champions League.

The 25 year old Frenchman has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs but The Telegraph’s Matt Law reports that Arsenal are worried his destination will be Old Trafford.

Law said: “The north Londoners want to sign a new midfielder this summer and are looking at alternatives to Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, who they fear will join United. Ilkay Gundogan and Geoffrey Kondogbia have also been monitored.”

Former Southampton player Matt Le Tissier certainly supports that notion as he believes United is the better move for Schneiderlin.

“Out of the top four clubs, I think Manchester United are more in need of him than Arsenal. Arsenal have got a lot of midfield players,” he said.

“Would he be that much better than what they have already got?

“Possibly a little bit better, yes, but in terms of needing somebody in that position and being light in that position, I think Manchester United are more in need of him than Arsenal are.”

Schneiderlin could definitely compliment the talent United already have in midfield already. In favour of the much more expensive Paul Pogba, Schneiderlin could work well alongside the likes of Ander Herrera.

In what could be an exciting season for United, with Champions League football back at Old Trafford, there are plenty of reasons why Schneiderlin would want the move.
