Chelsea have agreed personal terms with former Manchester United loanee Radamel Falcao according to The Mirror.
The 29-year-old endured a dismal year at Old Trafford and was released after Louis van Gaal decided not to extend his loan deal.
With AS Monaco in financial problems, Falcao was immediately on the lookout for a new club and Chelsea seems to be the likely destination for the Colombian striker next year.
Jose Mourinho is in need of a new striker following the departure of Didier Drogba and although signing Falcao would be a risk given how poor he was last year at United, he’d be on reduced wages at Stamford Bridge so the risk is somewhat minimised.
From the perspective of Man United fans, Falcao joining Chelsea would be frustrating if the Colombian found his goalscoring boots once again.
However, there are no guarantees that will happen so it may well be another Fernando Torres-esque signing which proves to be the wrong decision by Chelsea.
Falcao left United with his confidence completely sapped but a move to Chelsea would give him a new opportunity in the Premier League. If he does end up joining them, United fans will certainly be hoping nothing changes.
