Manchester United transfer roundup – No offer for Nicolas Otamendi

Here’s the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

According to Sky Sports, Valencia have not received any offers from Man United for defender Nicolas Otamendi.

The Argentine has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of months but it appears that the club are yet to make their move. However, United’s capture of Memphis Depay last term shows things can move quickly when it comes to transfers.

Former Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay has claimed that he wouldn’t be surprised if Bastian Schweinsteiger joined United. Makaay believes the player’s relationship with Louis van Gaal will persuade him to leave Germany and move to the Premier League.

Schweinsteiger would bring a considerable amount of experience to United should he join but reports on Tuesday suggested van Gaal is also keen on bringing young talent in. Spanish newspaper Sport claims that United want 16-year-old Barcelona keeper Inaki Pena and that they will offer him a 500 per cent pay rise to sign.

Finally, Mario Mandzukic and Carlos Bacca do not look like they will be joining United this summer. The agent of the former has indicated that he will stay at Atletico Madrid, while the latter seems to prefer a move to Italian side Roma.
