Turkish giants Galatasary have confirmed that they have made an enquiry for Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie.
The 31-year-old Dutchman has been linked to a number of European clubs following a frustrating campaign at Man United, including a possible move to Serie A champions Juventus.
Despite wanting to further prove himself at Old Trafford, manager Louis Van Gaal has not yet confirmed that his future lies at United.
Van Persie’s high wage demands are said to have put off a number of potential suitors but Galatasaray board member Cüneyt Tanman has admitted to making an enquiry.
Speaking about the situation, Tanman said: “We have made enquiries and established contact but an offer has not been made for the names mentioned [Van Persie and Klass-Jan Huntelaar].”
Van Persie undoubtedly retains the ability to make an impact having scored ten goals last term. However, he has been too inconsistent to warrant a key role in van Gaal’s side. There is also a question mark over whether or not he can keep himself fit. Van Persie enjoyed a remarkable debut season for United but there can be no room for sentiment when it comes to his future.
Perhaps the Dutchman would be better suited to the slower playing style of the Italian league, which also gives him the opportunity of picking up silverware along the way.
