In the latest edition of UPTV’s Transfer Daley series, Sam looks at reports from Gianluca Di Marzio suggesting Manchester United are in for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.
Although the German is undoubtedly a quality player and one that would go a long way to improving Louis van Gaal’s squad, it is unlikely that the club will sign him.
Man United have been linked with the likes of Dani Alves and Thomas Muller in the past before they signed new contracts at their respective clubs and it looks like it might be a similar situation with Boateng.
Van Gaal knows De Vrij well having worked with him with the Dutch national team while Felipe Anderson enjoyed a superb season last term.
Elsewhere, former United midfielder Anderson has stated that he expects teammate Rodrigo Dourado to leave Internacional soon for a team in Europe. The rumours surrounding Dourado are gathering pace and his playing style has received a lot of praise. United could be about to make their move.
Van Gaal may well be in for Dourado but it doesn’t look like they are interested in Mario Mandzukic. The player’s agent dismissed speculation linking him with a move to United earlier this week and subsequently ruled out a transfer.
