Harry Kane flattered by Manchester United interest but insists he’s happy at Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane has admitted he is flattered by Manchester United’s reported interest in him but insists he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year old, who scored 31 goals in all competitions for Tottenham last season, has been heavily linked with a switch to United in recent weeks.

The newly-capped England international is currently at the U21s European Championship and played 90 minutes in England’s opening 1-0 defeat to Portugal on Thursday.

At present, the youngster’s focus is with the national team but the London-born forward did admit to feeling flattered through being linked to United.

“Obviously I have seen the interest, but I am happy at Spurs and I look forward to the future with Spurs,” Kane said when asked about United’s interest in him.

“I have seen there is interest but that’s all I know. It is flattering for other clubs to maybe be interested.”

When asked if he would be interested in a move to a big club, he added: “Tottenham are a big club and that’s the way people have got to see it. I’m at a big club now and enjoying my football looking forward to next season.”

There seems to be little intent from Kane to make the switch up north to Manchester but given that he is rated at £40m, it might not be the worst thing in the world for United to focus their energies elsewhere.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to deal with as Man United found out by having to wait until the last second to sign Dimitar Berbatov previously.

As Louis van Gaal is keen to wrap up his signings early, it’d probably be in his best interests to avoid dealing with Levy altogether.
