Manchester United winger Nani is expected in Turkey on Thursday to complete a move to Fenerbahce.
Local Turkish newspaper Hurriyet say Fenerbahce have agreed an €8.4m fee for Nani with wages of €3.4m per season, which would work out at around €71,000 a week.
Given that Nani currently earns well in excess of £100,000 a week at Man United, it would represent a significant drop in wages for the Portuguese winger.
Nani’s agent confirmed he was in Turkey last week and as Louis van Gaal has no place in his squad for the 28-year-old, his United exit is edging ever closer.
As United fans are all too aware, Nani is a game winner on his day when he is in form but those sorts of performances are sandwiched in between games where he goes missing.
There simply is no place any more for Nani at United so it is certainly the right time for him to move on and at just 28, he’s got plenty of time left to forge a career elsewhere.
Playing in Turkey would allow Nani to take centre stage and as he showed on loan at Sporting Lisbon last season, he can excel when the spotlight is on him.
We’ll bring you the latest update on Nani’s situation when it happens this week.
