Manchester United fans have been resigned to losing David de Gea to Real Madrid for a while now but if Sergio Ramos was to come the other way then it would certainly soften the blow.
A born leader who is determined to win at all costs, Ramos would be a quality addition at Old Trafford.
Man United firmed up their interest in the Spanish defender on Monday and any deal for the player would be likely to involve De Gea.
We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on whether or not United should go for a straight swap deal between the two players or hold out for cash as well:
@PeoplesPerson_ we need cash. Ramos is older than DDG and probably not going to get any better. DDG will!

@PeoplesPerson_ DDG's worth is Ramos + 15 mill

@PeoplesPerson_ Straight swap. A quality defender plus can play rb and cb both.

@PeoplesPerson_ It would be DDG plus cash if anything

@PeoplesPerson_ Terrible decision if true. We are getting ripped off. Get the DDG money and buy a defender of our choice. He's 29,

@PeoplesPerson_ Ramos for de gea plus 10 million, we aren't in a position to get a fair deal for de gea

@PeoplesPerson_ I very much doubt it will happen but if it did it would be DeGea plus cash I'd say. (about 10M maybe).

United have lost the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy to Madrid in the past so it is only right that they play hardball with De Gea.
It is a refreshing stance to see from the club. If you take one of our best players, we’ll have one of yours.
Whether or not United seal a move for Ramos remains to be seen. There have been suggestions that the player is using the speculation for a better deal at the Bernabeu and the hope for fans is that they are not let down again following Dani Alves’ contract renewal at Barcelona earlier this month.
