Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is pleased to hear his old club being linked with Sergio Ramos and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Both are world class, established players at their respective clubs and the sort of signings who would improve almost any team in the world. They also play in positions which United desperately need to strengthen.
Although he was happy with the reports, Ferdinand was quick to point-out that both players may simply be using United’s interest as a bargaining chip to sweeten contract negotiations with their current clubs.
Ramos’s contract at Real Madrid runs until 2017 while Schweinsteiger’s is up for renewal next year, meaning a well placed piece of interest from United would certainly be in their favour.

But are they both using @ManUtd to get better deals at their current clubs? ?

United fans will be dubious when listening to rumours like this as players like Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller and Dani Alves all used the club to secure themselves better deals.
However, with outlets such as the BBC now reporting United’s interest, the interest certainly seems to be genuine.
Both Ramos and Schweinsteiger are world-champions and would provide genuine quality in positions that manager Louis van Gaal is keen to strengthen for a potential title-campaign next season.
