Anders Lindegaard may yet be offered new Manchester United contract

Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard could be set to reignite his career at Old Trafford next season and surprise everybody by remaining at the club.

Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet say Lindegaard could be offered a new contract by manager Louis van Gaal, despite only making 19 appearances in five years.

With David de Gea‘s anticipated departure, Van Gaal may choose to stick with recent signing Victor Valdes and 31-year-old Lindegaard instead of forking out for a new keeper.

The Dane was linked with a move back to his native country in the transfer window in January but the deal fell through and he is now currently under contract until June 2016 with the club.

Despite all of his frustration at a lack of game time, Lindegaard has always remained the utmost professional in all of his actions, which has been refreshing to see.

However, it’s not enough to sway the fact that Lindegaard should find a new club because his situation won’t change.

Lindegaard would be a superb goalkeeper for a lower level Premier League team but now is the right time for him to further his career elsewhere, not at United.
