Manchester United youngster Andrea Pereira has indicated that he is willing to play wherever Louis van Gaal asks him to.
Pereira was named as Manchester United U21s Player of the Year at the end of last term and he capped off a wonderful season with a starring role for Brazil at the U20 World Cup.
He scored a stunning solo goal in the final against Serbia but could not prevent his side being beaten 2-1 in the end. The skills he showed that day came as a delight to United fans watching on and there is hope that he can replicate those efforts next season in the Premier League.
Pereira, who was born in Belgium to Brazilian parents, spoke about where he sees himself in van Gaal’s team and insisted he just wants to play.
“I can play on the wing or in midfield. It’s just a case of wherever the manager asks me to play, I’ll play,” he said.
Asked where he thinks his best position on the field is, Pereira responded: “I think I could be a good attacking midfielder.”
Pereira, who turned 19 in January, could well make an impact this year at Old Trafford. He made his debut last season against Tottenham Hotspur and, depending on how van Gaal lines his team up, there might be playing time available for the youngster.
The goal against Serbia will certainly not hurt his chances and if van Gaal was watching, he might see Pereira as a man who can unlock defences for him next season.
