Manchester United will have to make Sergio Ramos their joint-highest earner if they sign him, according to MailSport.
Ramos has been linked with a move to Man United following some recent speculation regarding his contract situation at the Bernabeu.
The Spanish international has played in over 300 games for the club and has two years to run on his current deal but talks regarding a renewal have hit some problems.
Ramos currently earns €8m per year, which makes him one of the highest paid central defenders in the world. However, the Spaniard wants €10m.
This means United would have to put him on £260,000-a-week, matching Wayne Rooney‘s wages, if they want to entice him from Madrid.
Ramos would make an excellent addition to United’s defence and he could immediately improve a problematic area for Louis van Gaal‘s side last season.
He would be a fantastic signing but United would be wise to look at other options if the wages demands are that high. The likes of Nicolas Otamendi, Mats Hummels and Raphael Varane have all been strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
