Real Madrid’s new manager Rafael Benitez remains tight-lipped regarding transfer speculation linking some of his top talent leaving the Bernabeu.
Benitez, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti, as the manager of Real Madrid comes from Italy’s Serie A were he managed Napoli for the last two seasons.
He has a host of transfer speculation to deal with upon his arrival and must begin putting his own plans in place regarding what kind of squad he wants going forward next season.
Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas and Karim Benzema among others have been linked with moves away from Madrid but Benitez will sit down and lay out a plan before he says anything further about transfers.
Speaking in an interview with Madrid’s official website, he said: “The fans are wondering whether we’re going to see changes to the positions of certain players. My backroom team and I have been following the players and have been in contact with them from the first moment.
“So, firstly I have to say that the attitude to their work that they’ve all shown me, Sergio, Iker, Cristiano, Bale, Pepe, Varane, everyone, has been excellent.
“The first thing I’ve done is listen, find out what went well and not so well last year, their impressions, what in their opinion could be improved and what they’d like to be done. I’ve done the same with all the technical staff and professionals at the club and, with all that information, once all together we’ll decide what’s best for the team and for every one of them.
“They’ve all shown a very good attitude to their work and I’ve conveyed to them that the technical staff will be there for them for anything they need.”
There is a good chance that Benitez will sell some players this summer but it remains to be seen who he does not have in his plans.
The Spaniard has been tight-lipped since his appointment as manager and it seems like that won’t change as long as there is any doubt over a player.
With Florentino Perez pulling the strings, much of the final say on transfers will fall at his door and so Benitez is, wisely, not saying anything until he settles in at the Bernabeu.
The transfer speculation will not go away regarding Ramos based on the seriousness of the situation and we will hear more as the summer progresses.
