Angel di Maria will not be moving to Barcelona this summer based on an “anti-Barcelona” clause that was worked into his contract by Real Madrid when they sold him to Manchester United last summer, according to reports.
Di Maria was forced out of the Santiago Bernabeu with the signing of James Rodriguez last summer but it appears that Madrid were worried that the sale of Di Maria would come back to haunt them.
As a result, reports suggest they inserted a clause that would rule out any move for the Argentinian that Barcelona might make and as a result have dismissed claims that he might be leaving Old Trafford this summer.
The report in El Mundo Deportivo goes on to claim that PSG and Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich were linked with the winger.
Di Maria has ensured United fans that he will return to fight for his place but the “anti-Barcelona” clause will soothe fans who might have believed that a move to the Catalan club was a possibility.
