Real Madrid have already chosen Sergio Ramos’ replacement

Real Madrid have already identified Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi as a replacement for Sergio Ramos if he leaves this summer.

The Real Madrid defender has been linked with a move to Manchester United this week and a first bid for him from Ed Woodward has already been rejected.

Ramos has reportedly told Real Madrid that he wants to leave and has asked them to listen to any and all offers that might be put on the table for his services.

Real Madrid would have to replace their captain and Marca in Spain have reported that Otamendi is Madrid’s first-choice replacement for Ramos.

The Argentinian had a stellar season in Valencia’s Champions League qualifying campaign and could be on the move following interest from several parties this summer.

Otamendi has a buyout clause of €50 million, which Valencia are not budging on, and could well be a reason for Florentino Perez trying to extract a higher sum of money that the £32 million offered recently by Man United for Ramos.

Of course, Otamendi has also been heavily linked with United prior to the emergence of these Ramos rumours.

Ramos to United seems to be building up steam and with Real Madrid jetting off on 10 July on an international tour, he wants to have his future decided by then.

That leaves two weeks for Manchester United, Real Madrid and indeed Ramos to decide what is best for their future interests. Fasten your seatbelts.
