Turkish midfielder Arda Turan has told Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the club, according to AS in Spain.
Arda, 28, has played a crucial part in the success of Diego Simeone’s side recently and he would be a huge loss for Atletico.
AS report that Arda told club officials that he would like ‘a change of scene.’ Amidst reports that the Turkey captain has an offer from a top three Premier League club, Manchester United could well be monitoring the situation closely. Arda was linked to Man United last summer but a deal never materialised.
As an attacking midfielder there might not be space for Arda in United’s current squad. Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney have the ability to play the same role as him and he may find opportunities rather sparse at Old Trafford.
However, as a tough and hard-working player, he is exactly the sort of footballer that Louis Van Gaal likes. Industrious and efficient, Arda would definitely improve United.
As the start of the season begins to draw closer, United will be looking to expand their squad given their involvement in the Champions League this year.
If Arda does decide to move to the Premier League, United would be wise to secure his services. An extremely passionate player, he is sure to be loved by fans and hated by the opposition everywhere he goes.
