Liverpool are expected to officially announce the signing of Nathaniel Clyne today, according to Sky Sports.
Clyne will join Liverpool for an initial £12.5m, which could rise to £15m over time, and become the latest in a string of signings for what has been a very active summer already for the scousers.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Clyne all year long, with Louis van Gaal believed to be in the market for a new right-back. However, it looks like Clyne is set to join Liverpool instead.
With Dani Alves signing a new Barcelona contract and now Clyne is about join Liverpool, it doesn’t leave United with an overwhelming amount of options for a new right-back but Everton’s Seamus Coleman is one player who is reportedly on Van Gaal’s radar.
Nobody knows where Van Gaal is focusing his attention when it comes to a new right-back signing but fans will simply have to trust in the fact he has a plan.
One thing should be pointed out here – Luke Shaw cost United £30m but Clyne is set to leave for just £12.5m? That’s not right.
