European football expert Andy Brassell believes that Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan would be a perfect fit for Manchester United.
The Turkish midfielder has been linked with a move to Man United following comments from his agent, who revealed that his client would like to move to England.
The 28-year-old has always said that a move to the Premier League is something that he would be interested in and it looks as though it will eventually happen this summer. Whether or not he comes to United remains to be seen.
Brassell, speaking on talkSport, insisted that a switch to United makes the most sense for Arda.
“Everyone should be interested in him, including Chelsea. This guy is an unbelievable player,” he said.
“He made a huge difference in those even Madrid derbies that Atletico won. He’s got great energy and is adaptable.
“He wants to come to the Premier League and my gut feeling tells me [he’ll move to] Manchester United. They’re the most likely and that’s the fit for him.”
Arda joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 from Galatasary and adapted quickly to Diego Simeone’s style after he was placed in charge of the club in November of that year. He was an important figure in Atletico’s title winning season and their run to the Champions League final.
Arda plays on the right-wing for Simeone but he does tend to roam across the entire attacking line. However, his close control and calmness in possession are two qualities that might convince Louis van Gaal his future lies in central midfield. Arda has a buyout clause of €41m and it appears as though whoever does secure his services will have to pay that much in order to force Atletico to sell.
