The furore surrounding Sergio Ramos’ future has reached fever pitch in recent days and it is safe to say that the majority of fans are incredibly excited about the prospect of seeing him in a Manchester United shirt.
Ramos is one of the best centre-backs in world football and he will slot straight in to Man United’s starting XI.
That leaves one of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo or Jonny Evans to play alongside him, assuming Louis van Gaal sticks to a 4-3-3 formation.
We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on who they would play with Ramos:
@PeoplesPerson_ Rojo, natural left sided CB with great ball distribution similar to Ramos.

@PeoplesPerson_ Smalling deserves to start, he was fantastic last season after the City game. Less clumsy than Jones as well.

@PeoplesPerson_ wouldn't surprise me if LVG went back to tampering with a 3 at the back, probably smalling and rojo/jones joining him

@PeoplesPerson_ Smalling. But in form, Evans is the best suited to play with him. I'm not joking.

@PeoplesPerson_ Smalling. He stepped up last season when we needed him most and deserves the chance.

@PeoplesPerson_ Paddy McNair. The next best thing since sliced bread.

@PeoplesPerson_ Ramos and Rojo would be the most fun…… Not the most intelligent but definitely the most fun

Evans looks to be on his way out of United this summer but van Gaal has shown faith in Jones and Smalling by rewarding them with new contracts.
Whoever plays alongside Ramos will benefit from the Spaniard’s vast experience and winning mentality. He is a born leader and will undoubtedly whip his partner into shape.
Of course, there is the possibility that Ramos could line up with another player entirely. United have also been heavily linked with Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi and they are not short of cash should they want to bring both him and Ramos in.
