Joan Laporta: Paul Pogba ‘excited’ about Barcelona move

by Sam Koster

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has revealed that Paul Pogba is “very excited” about a potential move to the Spanish champions.

Pogba is widely expected to leave Juventus this summer, with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona all rumoured to be destinations for the 22-year-old.

Since his acrimonious departure from Manchester United in 2011, Pogba has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in European football and now apparently has his heart set on a dream move to Barcelona.

Regarding the ongoing speculation, Laporta talked up Barcelona’s chances of signing the French international.

“Pogba is very excited to come to Barcelona,” he said.

“I have a very good relationship with [Pogba’s agent] Mino Raiola. It would be one of the best signings. Everyone believes that he would fit into this team.”

Although United fans may be disappointed to hear of Paul’s apparent desire to join the Catalan club, the rumoured £80m asking price represents a lot of money for a player United let go for free only four years ago.

Louis van Gaal will be wise to concentrate his efforts on other targets elsewhere such as Ilkay Gundogan or Morgan Schneiderlin, who are both reported to have held talks with the club.
