Celtic manager Ronny Delia has praised Saidy Janko after the youngster completed his move to Scotland from Manchester United.
The Swiss right-back signed a four year deal with the Scottish Champions and will be hoping to make an immediate impression having failed to do so at Man United.
The 19-year-old played in just one first-team game for United, the 4-0 loss to MK Dons in the League Cup last season. He was eventually moved out on loan to Bolton Wanderers in the second half of the campaign.
He went on to play ten times for the Championship side and Delia expressed his happiness at securing the teenager’s signature.
“Saidy is a young player we want to develop. He’s a talented full-back,” he said.
“Saidy has to show himself in training like everyone else but the road to the first team is there if he shows himself to be the best.”
The move might come as a shock to many United fans given the team’s current problems at right-back.
Janko is a solid player and he will get the opportunity to test himself in Europe at Celtic. It would have been nice to see him develop further at Old Trafford but it is a testament to the player’s ambition that he decided to look for first-team opportunities elsewhere.
