Real Madrid must pay world-record transfer fee for David de Gea – report

Manchester United are willing to let David De Gea‘s contract run down if Real Madrid do not make a world record bid for the player, according to ESPN.

De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer but it is clear that the goalkeeper wants to move to the Bernabeu.

However, reports suggest that Madrid have not yet met Man United’s valuation of the Spaniard, thought to be a world record fee for a goalkeeper.

United’s Player of the Year, De Gea was undoubtedly the standout performer last season. The club count De Gea to be among their best players and they are not willing to let him leave on a cut-price deal.

It is also claimed that United are looking to bring Sergio Ramos to Old Trafford in any deal that would see De Gea go the other way.

It is clear that this is a saga destined to go on for the entirety of the summer. Ed Woodward is looking to make sure he brings in Ramos if De Gea leaves, which would soften the blow of his departure.

United fans will certainly find it hard to see De Gea leave after he transformed himself from a scrawny youngster to a world-class goalkeeper since his switch from Atletico Madrid.
