Barcelona seem to have beaten Manchester United and Chelsea to the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan.
Turan is on his way out of Atletico and TalkSPORT believe that Barcelona will be his destination.
TalkSport’s Spanish correspondent Begona Perez reported that Turan’s switch to Barcelona is ‘pretty much done’, despite the fact the Spanish club are currently under a transfer ban which stops them from registering any new players until January 2016.
“There could be an announcement in the next couple of days but it is pretty much done. The fee is €35m,” he said.
“He was linked to Chelsea and Manchester United but this is a player the Barcelona manager Luis Enrique wanted.”
The 28-year-old seemed keen on a move to the Premier League after comments from his agent and reports even said a deal to bring him to United was almost done but if Perez is proved correct, Turan will be joining Barcelona.
Much like Aleix Vidal, Barcelona wouldn’t be able to register Turan until January so all he could do up until that point would be training.
From United’s perspective, as good a player as Turan is, he operates in an attacking midfield role which Louis van Gaal is already spoilt for choices in, so a player in that role will likely be very low on his wishlist.
