Manchester United’s Robin van Persie has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce and looks to be closing in on an exit this summer.
The Guardian says his agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul for the last two days to negotiate a deal to take the Dutchman to Fenerbahce and the clubs are now left to agree on a price for the 31-year-old.
Dirk Kuyt is believed to have been a central figure in persuading Van Persie to move and The Guardian reports his wife Bouchra has visited Istanbul to make sure she’s happy with the move.
Van Persie has been very open about his future when discussing it this summer and made it clear he wanted to play regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2016 where he is keen to play a central role for the Netherlands.
If Van Persie does leave Man United this summer, then we can expect Louis van Gaal to be on the lookout for at least one new striker as it would leave Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as the only two first-team strikers.
