David de Gea has confirmed he is on way his way back to Manchester United tomorrow to begin pre-season training.
Lots of Man United fans considered De Gea’s move to Madrid as inevitable this summer but long, drawn out negotiations mean that no deal has been agreed as of yet.
Man United’s interest in Sergio Ramos has complicated Real Madrid’s pursuit of De Gea and he’ll now have to join up with United for pre-season, even if it is only a short term basis.
“Real Madrid? I have to return to Manchester for pre-season,” De Gea told Spanish TV channel Cuatro when asked about his current situation
Either De Gea has already undergone medical tests in Madrid ahead of a proposed transfer this summer or he will have to be given permission by Louis van Gaal to leave the club in order to complete them, if indeed he is leaving.
United are digging their heels in over Real Madrid’s pursuit of De Gea and with only eight days before the squad flies out to USA, it is going to be very interesting to see what develops over the next week.
Van Gaal is unlikely to want any player joining him on the tour who could end up moving away from the club but with so little time left ahead of the pre-season tour, there is every chance it could happen.
