Manchester United have officially confirmed Nani’s move to Turkish side Fenerbahce has been completed.
The 28-year-old successfully passed his medical this morning in Turkey and will be unveiled in Fenerbahce’s stadium tonight so the fans can give him a warm welcome.
Due to Louis van Gaal sending Nani on loan to Sporting Lisbon last year, the writing was always on the wall for him and now his future has been resolved relatively quickly.
Nani’s move ends an eight-year association with Man United which saw him make 230 appearances in which he scored 41 goals, including plenty of memorable ones such as his first ever goal against Tottenham Hotspur.
Due to his style of play, Nani was always a player who frustrated fans because his chances would often be wasteful but when he hit a shot in the sweet spot, there was nothing a goalkeeper could do to stop it.
He should thrive in the Turkish league and if he can recapture the form he showed in 2010-12 which made him one of United’s best players at the time, then Fenerbahce will have a top quality player on their hands.
Nani’s exit completes another transfer deal for Man United to add on to the signing of Memphis Depay as well as the release of a host of players including Tom Cleverley and Ben Amos.
However, there is expected to be a lot more movement both in and out of United this summer, so hold on to your hats.
Thanks for everything you did at United and good luck at Fenerbahce, Nani.
