Nani has encouraged his new side Fenerbahce to sign Robin van Persie from his now former club Manchester United.
The Guardian had an exclusive at the weekend which suggested Van Persie had already agreed personal terms with the Turkish side but his agent Kees Voss denied any such deal being in place at this stage, causing some confusion over the situation.
Van Persie has been open this summer in saying he is keen to play first-team football ahead of Euro 2016 and Nani would clearly like his new club to bring the Dutchman in alongside him.
When asked about Van Persie, Nani responded: “No I have not had the chance to speak with him yet but if he is coming here I think it is a very good decision to come here as he is a very experienced player and a player who will score goals,” Nani said after being unveiled as a Fenerbahce player.
“I know him well we are good friends so if the club signs him it will be a great choice.”
Van Persie’s exit is not inevitable this summer but plenty of fans feel it is the right time for the 31-year-old to leave.
From United’s perspective, a lot of business could be done using the £200,000 per week wages which Van Persie is on. That being said, it would leave the club with only two senior recognised strikers which surely means Louis van Gaal brings in another one this summer.
Whether Van Persie would want to move to Turkey remains to be seen but if the Dutchman is serious about playing first-team football all year ahead of Euro 2016, a move away from Old Trafford may be the only solution.
