Iker Casillas agrees Real Madrid exit – report

by Robbie Dunne

Iker Casillas has reportedly agreed to join Porto as his time with Real Madrid comes to an end.

Real Madrid are keen to ensure Casillas’ future is resolved before he has to join them for their pre-season tour of Australia.

The Spanish goalkeeper is also said to enjoy the thoughts of moving to Porto so he can be close to his girlfriend, Sara Carbonero, who works in Madrid as a sports journalist.

As Porto to Madrid is just over an hour’s flight and is just 500 kilometres of a journey, it’s an ideal location.

Casillas and Porto are both keen to get a deal done but he still has two years left on his contract with Real Madrid.

Porto are not in a position to pay Casillas wages and it might require Real Madrid releasing the player, who is now 34, in order to lessen the blow of the €6.5 million in wages that Casillas will demand from the Portuguese side.

Casillas wants a deal done as soon as possible as he does not want to have to travel with Real Madrid to Australia as a part of their preseason tour.

Real Madrid currently have Keylor Navas under contract and have been heavily linked with United’s David de Gea.

The sale of Casillas was one of the only things holding up the transfer and if he does complete his move, everything would be in place for David de Gea‘s move to the Spanish capital.
