Robin van Persie’s potential move to Fenerbahce has stepped forward once again, thanks to Gianluca di Marzio who has reported it from Ialy.
Di Marzio said there is plenty of optimism at Fenerbahce who feel a move could happen, despite the fact he’d have to relocate to Turkey. He goes on to say Fenerbahce’s sporting director has been replaced recently.
As much as Van Persie dropped out of form last season, Louis van Gaal continued to give the 31-year-old striker more opportunities and there are fans who feel his relationship with Van Persie could be a problem in the long run, in terms of keeping him around simply for sentimental reasons.
For Fenerbahce, signing Van Persie would be an unbelievably good signing for them. If swarms of fans were trying to push outside because of Nani’s arrival, imagine what they would do if Van Persie arrived.
At United, Van Persie had an amazing debut season but unfortunately injuries stopped that momentum from building since, so is now the right time to leave him leave?
What Van Gaal needs next season is a set of strikers who aren’t afraid to work off the ball but if it left to Wayne Rooney and James Wilson, then United would be shooting themselves towards the Premier League once again.
