Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United was the talk of the town in the previous couple of weeks but this week it has all been relatively quiet with regards to a move.
Mike Keegan reports that United representatives have made their way to Southampton in order to push through the deal ahead of United’s first game on the pre-season tour against Club America on 17 July.
United’s initial offer of around £20m for Schneiderlin was rejected and Southampton boss Ronald Koeman claimed there had never been any follow-up interest from Louis van Gaal‘s side.
That doesn’t seem to be the case any more as United have started a second offensive with the intention of an improved bid in order to lure the Frenchman to Old Trafford ahead of the pre-season tour.
United are certainly leaving it late if they want to sign Schneiderlin before the team flies out on Monday 13 June but as the deal for Matteo Darmian has shown, transfers can move very quickly if necessary.
Southampton are in no rush to sell Schneiderlin and United have a short time frame to bring him in before Monday if they want him on the same plane as the squad.
