Iker Casillas has said his goodbyes to his Real Madrid teammates ahead of a move to Porto, according to AS.
The Spaniard arrived at Valdebebas on Saturday morning after the rest of the squad had already begun training under the guidance of new manager Rafael Benitez.
Casillas picked up his belongings and said his goodbyes to the players. He will shortly complete a two-year deal with Porto, with the transfer all but confirmed.
Man United have been playing hardball in negotiations for the player but it would appear that Casillas’ departure paves the way for De Gea to make the switch.
However, United supporters have been given a glimmer of hope that De Gea may yet stay following reports that Madrid are set to complete the signing of Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla.
Perhaps Casilla will be a short-term option for Madrid while they wait for De Gea’s contract to expire at United next year. United fans will be hoping De Gea has a change of heart in the meantime.
