Darmian will become Man United’s third signing of the summer after the club revealed they had reached an agreement with Bayern Munich over the transfer of Bastian Schweinsteiger earlier on Saturday.
United leave for their pre-season tour of the United States of America on Monday and it is clear they are looking to get the majority of their transfer business done before they leave.
Darmian is exactly the kind of player that Louis van Gaal likes having built a reputation as a versatile player who is capable of playing both on the right and left hand side of defence.
However, the signing puts a question mark over Rafael’s future at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian is a fans’ favourite at United due to his full blooded performances but he fell out of favour towards the end of last season and he was often left out of the squad altogether.
Nevertheless, Darmian is a quality addition and one that will go a long way to fixing the problems that United had at the back last term.
