The German midfielder joined Man United a week ago and seems to have settled into life at the club with minimum fuss.
Having spent 17 years at Bayern Munich, there might have been a period of acclimatisation for the German international but it appears he is relishing the new challenge.
Speaking to ManUtd.com, Van Gaal expressed his confidence in Schweinstieger as a footballer and leader.
“I’m not only looking to the qualities of the player but also how he is as a human being,” he said.
“I believe he will do his utmost best to perform in the same way he did at Bayern. I have a lot of confidence in him.”
United fans are overjoyed at the thought of seeing Schweinstieger and Morgan Schneiderlin as the two holding midfielders at Old Trafford, particularly with the attacking talent the club boasts in front of them.
Schweinstieger has been quite active on social media since his arrival at United and he appears to be delighted to have joined. He says it was the only club in the world he would have left Bayern for and is quickly becoming a fans’ favourite. With comments like this from van Gaal, supporters can expect plenty of confident performances during Schweinsteiger’s debut season.
