Wayne Rooney is excited by the prospect of playing alongside Manchester United’s new signings and believes they will give the whole squad a boost ahead of the new season.
United have signed three new players in problematic areas this summer within the space of two weeks along with the Memphis Depay deal that was done early in the summer.
The rather quick signings of the players gives everyone a chance to understand how the new signings play and for Louis van Gaal to plot his challenge for the title next season.
Rooney, who believes they are “exciting times” at United, spoke to ManUtd.com about them and backed them to have a fantastic impact.
“Bastian is a very experienced player who has won everything in the game and it’s great that he has chosen to join us and left a team like Bayern Munich to come here,” he said.
“And Morgan as well – it’s great to see Bastian, him, Matteo and Memphis all come in and give the squad a boost. It’s exciting times and I’m sure over the next week or two it’ll be great for us to get some training sessions in and get to know each other’s games.
“Bastian speaks very good English so that’s a boost for the squad, too. He’s a fantastic player, he’s shown that over the years and it’s great that we’ve got him and I’m sure he’ll be a good player for us. We had the day we first flew out when we first met Bastian and Morgan and they’ve settled in as well as they can do in a couple of days. It’s great to have them with us.”
United have sealed four very important deals this summer and are back on centre stage when it comes to talk of contention for the Premier League title next season.
Midfield, an area that has troubled United for quite some time now, seems taken care of and in Memphis Depay they have the best young talent in Europe. Matteo Darmian is believed to be one of the best emerging right backs in the world and United already look a lot more solid in all areas of the field.
Rooney is correct in saying these are exciting times at United and fans of the club are excited to get a chance to see the new signings when the preseason kicks of on Friday against Club America.
