Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United still need to strengthen their squad in at least two key areas and made it clear the summer spending is far from finished.
Speaking to ManUtd.com, Van Gaal was open and honest in the fact he wasn’t yet happy with the balance of the squad.
When asked if he expected more players to arrive, Van Gaal said: “I hope so. No, we are not finished yet, I think.
“It is what I have said already in many press conferences. We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.
“But we shall only buy when the player can give a contribution to our level. And, of course, that is in the eyes of our staff, but I have to have confidence that he can cope with the rhythm of the Premier League.”
The likes of Sergio Ramos, Nicolas Otamendi, Harry Kane, Karim Benzema and lots of other players have all been continuously linked to Old Trafford and that will only intensify following Van Gaal’s comments.
It’s also interesting to hear Van Gaal say United need to strengthen in ‘at least’ two positions. What do you think the Dutchman is alluding to here apart from a new centre-back and a new striker?
