Manchester United transfer news: Real Madrid sign Kiko Casilla

by Sam Peoples

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news an gossip.

Louis van Gaal has confirmed he expects to sign more new players and said there were two key areas of the team which he wanted to improve.

A new centre-back and striker are two areas which United could certainly do with improving so it is very likely Van Gaal was referring to them when discussing key spots he wanted to improve.

Real Madrid have signed Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla. The 28-year-old will join and means that the Spanish club will have two senior goalkeepers, Casilla and Keylor Navas.

What does that mean for David de Gea‘s future? At face value, it now looks very unlikely that Madrid will bring in De Gea as a second goalkeeper signing this summer.

One deal which reports suggest Man United will complete is that of Mason Holgate. The 18-year-old Barnsley defender successfully completed a trial at Carrington this week and is expected to complete a £1m move to Old Trafford.

Victor Valdes looks to be on his way out of United following comments from Louis van Gaal and Spanish side Valencia continue to be heavily linked with a move to the 33-year-old, although there is some confusion over his wages.
