Even if David de Gea does end up moving to Real Madrid this summer, he won’t become their new No.1 goalkeeper.
Keylor Navas has been given the No.1 jersey left vacant after the exit of Iker Casillas left to join FC Porto.
New goalkeeper signing Kiko Casilla has been given the No.13 shirt.
De Gea’s protracted links with a Real Madrid move this summer have continued in earnest despite the fact he is now away with Manchester United on their pre-season tour of USA.
The latest reports with De Gea revolve around one single determination for United that the only way he can leave would be as part of a deal that saw Sergio Ramos move to Old Trafford.
With Real Madrid unwilling to part with their Ramos, who has recently been named as their new captain following Casillas’ exit, any deal for De Gea does look to have hit a brick wall in terms of negotiations.
That suits United because the club do not want him to leave and if he does remain at the club past this summer, the big question would once again go back to whether he would then change his mind and sign a new deal with United.
