Both players made their Manchester United debut against Club America this week and Memphis was very exciting in the No.10 role.
His link-up play with Wayne Rooney showed the beginnings of what could be a fruitful partnership for Man United this season and speaking to ManUtd.com, Schweinsteiger admitted he was looking forward to playing with the Dutch winger this season.
“Memphis is an unbelievable talent and he has so much quality and I am sure we will have a lot of fun with him on the pitch,” he said.
What Memphis showed against Club America was fantastic versatility and one thing which was really impressive was his vision. He is known as a powerful and pacey winger but he clearly has much more to his game and that will make him an even more dangerous player.
It is an exciting time to be a United fan isn’t it? Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Memphis and Darmian are the four players who have been brought in by Louis van Gaal to help him create a title winning team and the future really looks positive.
As for Memphis, he’s got all the potential to become a world class player and now has the platform to do it at Old Trafford. Here’s hoping he can follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps and make the most of his opportunities.
