Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was one of the players he always looked up to.
Schweinsteiger recently completed a move to Man United having spent his entire professional career at Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Scholes is widely regarded to be one of the greatest midfielders to ever play for United.
Schweinsteiger revealed his admiration for Scholes and that he has his shirt back at his house in Munich.
“I have some players who I was always looking for, to see how they were playing, and of course Scholes was one of them,” he said.
“I like his kind of style, how he played and it was also nice to see him once in Munich when there was an all-star game between Bayern Munich and Manchester United. I took his shirt on that occasion but that one was for me! It is at my house in Munich. Not in Manchester, because I do not have a home in Manchester yet!”
Schweinsteiger has been saying all the right things since his arrival in Manchester and these latest comments will only endear him further to the United faithful.
It is unlikely that Schweinsteiger will make the same impact Scholes did at the club but there is no doubt the German can play a big part in United’s push for trophies next season.
