Andreas Pereira has been training hard ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season tour match against Barcelona.
Pereira has been used in the second half of Man United’s two previous matches with Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.
The Brazilian, who scored his first United goal against San Jose Earthquakes last Tuesday, has impressed plenty of fans with his accomplished performances.
As the contest with Barcelona looms, Pereira will no doubt be desperate to be given a starting role by Louis van Gaal and he certainly deserves one based on how he has played so far in USA.
Pereira, on his first pre-season tour with the club, has been United’s main attacking threat during the second half of each of their previous two games.
Aged just 19, the Brazilian has looked increasingly comfortable on the ball, displaying fantastic control and awareness.
Above all, Pereira looks sharper than most of his team-mates at this early stage of United’s 2015/16 campaign. When the contest looks to be petering out, he is still an energetic force going forward.
As for his future prospects at Old Trafford, continued selection in the Premier League looks unlikely given the wide range of attacking talent already at van Gaal’s disposal.
However, if he maintains this level of performance then it will be hard for the Dutchman to ignore him, especially if some senior players don’t hit the ground running in the upcoming campaign.
