David de Gea is back in training with Manchester United and is in line to make his first appearance on the pre-season tour this weekend against FC Barcelona.
The Spanish shot-stopper has missed both of Man United’s games so far thanks to a minor injury but Louis van Gaal admitted this week that he could play on Saturday.
Given the constant speculation around his future and whether he will be joining Real Madrid, De Gea’s absence so far from United’s games has only added fuel to the fire, so seeing him back in action for United would be a step in the right direction.
Sam Johnstone has played excellently so far in both of United’s games on tour but fans are desperate to see De Gea back in goal and a game against FC Barcelona is the perfect match to do that in.
Will he stay or will he go? It’s been the main question for United fans all summer and with the Premier League only two weeks away from starting, we’re no closer to knowing whether he’ll be calling Old Trafford home next season.
With a move for Sergio Romero edging closer, Victor Valdes looking set to leave and De Gea’s future very much up in the air, United find themselves in a very tricky situation with goalkeepers and with so little time left before the season begins, Louis van Gaal will be keen to sort it out as quickly as possible.
