Louis van Gaal says ‘wait and see’ over Angel di Maria’s future at Manchester United

Louis van Gaal has done nothing to quash the growing reports linking Angel di Maria with a move to Paris St Germain this summer.

Although Van Gaal said Di Maria was going to join up with Manchester United on their pre-season tour this weekend, he refused to confirm whether the Argentinian winger would be part of his squad when the Premier League begins on August 8.

Di Maria’s unsettled first year at Man United led to plenty of speculation over whether he would remain at the club next season and Van Gaal’s ambiguous comments do nothing to stop reports linking him with PSG.

“I expect him here tomorrow because we have communicated it to them and they have responded to that,” Van Gaal said.

Van Gaal was then asked about the PSG and Di Maria rumours: “I am not answering questions about transfers or the process in transfers.

When asked directly whether he will be in his squad next season, Van Gaal added: “We will wait and see.”

If he wanted to stop the speculation, all he had to do was confirm Di Maria would be part of his team next year and the reports would have lessened in intensity.

However, they will only grow stronger from Van Gaal’s comments and you can interpret that however you want to but for us it is a clear hint – Di Maria’s future does lie away from United if the right deal can be struck with PSG.

Do you expect Angel di Maria to be a Manchester United player next season?
