USA born defender Matthew Olosunde is hoping to impress Manchester United coaches as he spends time with the club on trial according to the Daily Mail.
The New York Red Bulls academy player is just 16 and hails from Trenton, New Jersey.
Olosunde plays at both right-back and centre-back and has featured for USA’s U17s team twice against England and Norway and hopes to make the squad for the U17s World Cup in October in Chile.
Scouting reports suggest Olosunde is quick, agile, good with the ball, works well in tight spaces, passes when he has to and is always looking to join the attack. He put in a dominant performance at the Nike Friendlies and players who do well there tend to get picked up immediately.
It is a big jump from the U17s and the US Academy League but Olosunde is considered supremely talented and is one of the top amateur prospects in the New York Red Bulls system.
Louis van Gaal is clearly intent on improving the youth ranks of the club, particularly the defence as Barnsley manager Lee Johnson conceded earlier in the week that youngster Mason Holgate was likely to join United too.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah was just 16 when he joined from Ajax last summer and has gone on to impress with the U18s, so if Olosunde makes the move he will be hoping to have a similar impact at the club.
