Manchester United’s pursuit of Sergio Ramos has rumbled on alongside Real Madrid’s attempts to sign David de Gea.
With Man United’s firm stance on De Gea not leaving for anything less than a world record fee, any move for Ramos looked to have hit a roadblock but Spanish journalist Pablo Garcia Cuervo has given them a new lease of life.
Cuervo has gone on record to say Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez wants Ramos to leave the club in what could be a major development in his future.
Speaking to Radio MARCA, as covered by Sport Witness, Cuervo said: “Sergio has made his mind up. Florentino also wants Sergio to leave, but Real Madrid want it to seem like Sergio is the one who wants to leave because he isn’t very ‘madridista'”
“If Florentino Pérez wanted to keep Casillas, he hid it very well. The same is happening with Ramos”.
As was mentioned by Cuervo, Casillas’ exit from Real Madrid happened because Perez wanted it to and if that’s also the case with Ramos, then the same outcome is very likely.
Ramos leaving Real Madrid for Man United really did seem implausible thanks to the stance taken on De Gea but if Cuervo is correct, that may well not be the case any more.
