Marcos Rojo has had an extended summer break following his participation in the Copa America but is now ready to join up with Manchester United on their pre-season tour.
Fellow South Americans Angel di Maria and Javier Hernandez are also scheduled to fly out and Rojo is nearly ready to get involved in training once again.
With Argentina in the Copa America, Rojo put in some excellent performances on-route to them finishing as runners-up to Chile, so he has enjoyed a great off season following the 2014/15 campaign with Man United.
His return gives United a much needed left footed option at centre-back because as versatile as Daley Blind is, he has been poor in that position in the first two games in the pre-season.
With Luke Shaw looking so strong from the very start this summer, Rojo is unlikely to get too much of a run out at left-back when it comes to the bigger games, which means he’ll be fighting for a starting spot at centre-back.
Right now, Rojo would probably be in most fans’ starting XI’s alongside Chris Smalling at the heart of defence but that could all change if a new centre-back was bought this summer.
Regardless of that, it’ll be good to have Rojo back in the squad and playing again because with only a couple of weeks left until the season starts, he’ll have to work hard to get his match sharpess back up again.
