Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is looking forward team’s biggest test of the pre-season tour so far against Barcelona on Sunday.
Schweinsteiger will unfortunately play no role versus Barcelona as he has been ruled out with a minor injury but he’ll be in the stadium watching on from the stands.
It’s a real shame that the 30-year-old isn’t going to be fit because having played 45 minutes in each of United’s pre-season games so far this season, playing Barcelona was the next step up for him in terms of getting ready for next year.
Now, especially if he also misses the Paris St Germain game through injury, Schweinsteiger may struggle to get match fit for the start of the season which would be a cruel blow.
As someone who has won almost everything there is to win, Schweinsteiger is used to stepping up in the big games and that’s one key area United will struggle to replace, simply because of how much experience he has of winning on the big occasion.
Fans are certainly hoping Schweinsteiger’s absence from the game on Saturday is nothing more than precautionary and that he’ll be back in action for the last game of the pre-season tour against PSG.
