Manchester United’s goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek has intensified rumours surrounding FC Barcelona’s Pedro.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford in recent weeks as the Spanish international is unhappy over the lack of first-team football thanks to the arrival of Luis Suarez.
Pedro has successfully renegotiated his €150m release clause with Barcelona as it now been lowered to only €30 million, and Frans Hoek has not denied that Man United are taking advantage of such a situation.
He said: “Pedro? We will see, a lot of things can happen in the world of football, but everything is very difficult.”
Most United fans believe Pedro’s versatile style of play would suit Van Gaal’s system because he is multi-functional and comfortable in more one position, a trait which United’s boss really likes to see in his players.
Thanks to a reduced release clause of €30m, Pedro would be great value in the market for a player who has got so much experience under his belt already by the age of 27.
With Angel di Maria’s future looking in doubt, Pedro may well be seen by Van Gaal as the immediate replacement and bring him in to fill the void left behind by the Argentinian.
