Louis van Gaal praises Manchester United youngsters following victory against Barcelona

Louis van Gaal has praised Manchester United’s youngsters following the impressive 3-1 win against Barcelona on Saturday.

Van Gaal chose to start his more experienced players but subbed on the likes of Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard an hour into the game.

Both ended up scoring, while players such as Tyler Blackett and James Wilson made solid contributions to the match.

Van Gaal was pleased with how the team managed to keep their shape despite being relatively inexperienced.

“We stayed in our shape because Barcelona is a very good team,” he said.

“The second half with all the youngsters…we maintained the same rhythm so I was happy.”

United have a number of top quality young players at the club, with several possessing the ability to become world-class someday.

There were concerns that United’s transfer activity this summer would reduce the amount of gametime for the prospects already at Old Trafford but it seems as if van Gaal knows what he is doing when it comes to giving them opportunities to shine.
