Manchester United eased past European champions Barcelona with a 3-1 victory in Santa Clara, California.
Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj were all on the scoresheet for the Reds in a hugely impressive display. Rafinha bagged a consolation goal for Barca to half the deficit to 2-1, before Januzaj wrapped up the game just a minute later.
After much speculation, David De Gea started in goal for Man United and was lucky not to concede, as Luis Suarez twice hit the post for the Catalans. However, once Rooney gave United the lead with a header from an Ashley Young corner, the Reds grew into the game.
United made 11 changes on the hour mark and two of the young substitutes bagged themselves goals. Lingard finished off a great team move before setting up Januzaj, who managed to turn and finish from inside the box.
The Belgian’s goal capped a tremendous performance for United, who will now look to make it four out of four on their pre season tour against PSG on Wednesday.
