Callum Gribbin has put pen to paper on a four-year professional contract with Manchester United.
Liverpool were circling around as the 16-year-old schoolboy was very impressive for Man United’s U18s last summer but he has ignored interest in order to sign a contract with United which is fantastic news.
Gribbin confirmed the news on his official Twitter account: “Happy to sign a 4 year deal..Good things take time, now time to focus on the season ahead! Blessed.”
Last year, Gribbin’s outstanding performance in the FA Youth Cup game against Hull City at Old Trafford, where he scored two goals, put him in the limelight in front of a record crowd for a youth game as well as everybody watching on MUTV.
The next step in Gribbin’s young career is for him to force his way into Warren Joyce’s U21s on a regular basis and move up from the U18s, so it will be exciting to see how he gets on next season.
Gribbin will have been buoyed by watching what Louis van Gaal has been doing with United’s youngsters in terms of giving them opportunities and although he is only 16, Gribbin will be hungry to take the most of those same chances if he is given them.
